Supported sign-on methods
Gated microsites require subscribers to identify themselves before they can view the content. This page lists the sign-on methods available for gated sites, what each one is best suited to, and where to configure it. The exact options in your account depend on how Administration is set up (confirm the exact steps in your account).
Reference
| Method | How the subscriber proves identity | Best for | Where to set it up |
|---|---|---|---|
| SSO (Microsoft Entra ID) | Redirected to your organization's Microsoft Entra ID sign-in; returns after authenticating | Internal audiences already using Microsoft accounts | Administration → single sign-on / identity settings |
| SSO (SAML / other IdP) | Redirected to your configured identity provider | Employees or members behind an existing corporate IdP | Administration → single sign-on / identity settings |
| Email + passcode (magic link) | Enters their email; receives a one-time link or code to continue | External subscribers with no shared login | Administration → gated site access settings |
| Known-subscriber link | Personalized link ties the visit to a known subscriber record | Subscribers reached from a Broadcast you sent | Configured on the Edition / microsite link |
| Shared password | Enters a single access code you distribute | Low-sensitivity, broad-audience gating | Administration → gated site access settings |
Values above are representative; available methods and their labels vary by account configuration.
Notes
- SSO options such as Microsoft Entra ID require an administrator to register and configure the identity provider before Authors can select them for a site.
- A gated site can typically offer one primary sign-on method; some accounts allow a fallback (for example, SSO with an email-passcode backup). Confirm what your configuration supports.
- Known-subscriber links only identify recipients who arrive from a personalized link in a Broadcast; anonymous or forwarded visitors will still be prompted to sign on.
- Sign-on identifies the subscriber but does not by itself control which content they see — pair it with audience or segment rules where finer access is needed.
- Access and sign-on activity may appear in reporting; see the metrics dictionary for definitions.
