Launch an Employee Newsletter
Stand up a recurring internal newsletter end to end, from audience and template to scheduled Broadcast and results.
Scenario
You want a dependable internal newsletter — say a monthly "Company Update" — that reaches every employee on a predictable cadence, looks consistent each time, and gives you readership numbers you can report back to leadership. This playbook walks the full journey once so that every future issue is a quick copy-edit-send.
Prerequisites
- A subscriber audience for your employees, kept current (ideally synced from your HR or identity source rather than maintained by hand).
- A reusable Edition you can treat as a template: masthead, section headings, and a footer with an unsubscribe/preferences link.
- Agreement on cadence and a consistent send time (for example, the first Tuesday of each month at 9:00 AM in your recipients' time zone).
- Permission to send to internal lists, plus a from-name and reply-to address recipients will recognize.
Steps
- Build your audience. Create or import the employee subscriber list and confirm it stays up to date. See Manage audiences.
- Create a template Edition. Design one Edition with your standard layout and reusable sections, and keep it in a dedicated Project Folder so each issue is easy to find and clone.
- Personalize the greeting. Add merge fields for first name and, if useful, department or location. See Personalization tags.
- Draft this month's issue. Clone the template into the Folder, drop in the content, and proofread. Send yourself a test to check rendering and links.
- Schedule the Broadcast. Set the audience, subject line, and send time, then schedule rather than sending immediately (confirm the exact steps in your account).
- Repeat next cycle. Clone the previous issue, refresh the content, and reschedule.
Measure success
Track open and click rates per issue to gauge attention, and watch the trend across issues rather than any single send. Note which sections drive clicks so you can prioritize content. Keep an eye on unsubscribe and bounce counts as early warnings about list health. See the Metrics dictionary.
