Connect a file or data source for imports

Set up an SFTP, cloud file, or data feed so subscriber lists import automatically on a schedule, instead of uploading a spreadsheet by hand each time.

Before you begin

  • Admin access to the integrations or data-import area of your account.
  • Connection details for the source: SFTP host, port, username, and key or password; or the cloud storage location and its access credentials.
  • A sample file in the format you'll send (usually CSV). Confirm delimiter, text encoding, and whether the first row is a header.
  • A decision on which subscriber field is the unique key (typically the email address) so records match and update rather than duplicate.
  • The destination audience or list the records should land in.

Steps

  1. Open the integrations area and choose to add a new data source or scheduled import (confirm the exact steps in your account).
  2. Select the source type — SFTP, a cloud file location, or a data feed URL.
  3. Enter the connection details and test the connection. Resolve any authentication or path errors before continuing.
  4. Point the import at the specific file or folder, and set a filename pattern if the file name changes each run (for example, a date stamp).
  5. Map the source columns to subscriber fields. Set the unique key so existing subscribers are updated, and decide how to handle blank or unmatched values.
  6. Choose update behavior: add new subscribers, update existing ones, and whether missing rows should be suppressed or left unchanged.
  7. Set the schedule (for example, hourly or daily) and save. Run once manually to validate.

Result

The source connects successfully and the first run imports your sample records. Spot-check a few subscribers to confirm fields mapped correctly, then let the schedule keep the audience current automatically. Review the import history after each run for row counts and errors.
