Add a Video to an Edition
Adding a video lets you deliver richer, more engaging content directly inside an Edition. Because many email clients cannot autoplay embedded video, the platform typically shows a still poster image with a play affordance that links subscribers to a hosted playback experience — so what your subscribers see stays reliable across inboxes.
Before you begin
- Have your video ready as a hosted URL or a file you can upload. (Confirm the accepted formats and size limits in your account.)
- Prepare a poster image (the still frame subscribers see before they click). Use a clear, high-contrast frame at your Edition's content width.
- Open the Edition you want to edit, or create a new one in the appropriate Folder.
- Know where the video should land in the layout (for example, near the top for a hero, or within a content block).
Steps
- Open the Edition in the editor and click into the location where the video should appear.
- Add a video content block or element from the editor's insert options. (Confirm the exact label and menu path in your account.)
- Provide the video source — paste the hosted URL or upload the file.
- Set the poster image so subscribers see a meaningful still frame before playback.
- Add alt text and a short caption for accessibility and for clients that suppress images.
- Adjust placement, alignment, and width so the block fits your Edition's layout.
- Save the Edition, then send a test to yourself and preview across a few clients.
Result
The video block appears in your Edition with the poster image showing. In the test send, clicking the poster opens the video's playback experience. Once previews look right across your key clients, the Edition is ready to schedule as a Broadcast.
