Read Your First Report
Open a Broadcast report and understand opens, clicks, and engagement at a glance.
What you'll build
By the end of this tutorial you'll have opened the report for a Broadcast you sent, read the headline numbers, and know how to tell a healthy send from one that needs attention — all without exporting anything.
Before you begin
- A Broadcast that has already been sent (pick one that went out at least a few hours ago so opens and clicks have had time to register).
- Permission to view reporting in your account.
- A few minutes — reporting keeps updating, so the numbers you see now will keep maturing.
Steps
- Open the Folder that holds your sent Edition, then open the Broadcast's report from its reporting view. (Confirm the exact steps in your account.)
- Read the summary tiles at the top. These usually cover delivered, opens, clicks, and often bounces and unsubscribes.
- Focus on the rates, not just the raw counts. Open rate = opens ÷ delivered; click rate = clicks ÷ delivered. Rates let you compare Broadcasts of different sizes fairly.
- Check delivered against the number sent. A large gap points to bounces or suppression — a deliverability issue rather than a content issue.
- Look at the engagement over time or activity view to see when subscribers opened and clicked. A single early spike is normal; a long tail suggests the content stayed relevant.
- If your report lists clicks by link, note which links earned the most clicks — that's your clearest signal of what subscribers cared about.
Next steps
- Compare two Broadcasts to see whether a subject line or send time moved the numbers.
- Learn what each metric means precisely in the Metrics dictionary.
- Investigate a low delivered count using Manage the suppression list.
