Set Up Your First Automated Send
Automation lets you send the right message the moment something happens — no one has to press "send." In this tutorial you'll build a simple welcome automation: when a new subscriber joins your audience, they automatically receive a Broadcast within minutes.
What you'll build
A single-step automated send that watches for new subscribers and delivers a welcome Edition as a Broadcast. Once it's live, every person who joins gets the same message consistently, without manual work.
Before you begin
- An audience (list or segment) that new subscribers are added to.
- A finished welcome Edition, saved in a Folder and ready to send.
- Permission to create and activate automations in your account.
- A test subscriber address you can use to confirm the flow end to end.
Steps
- Open the automation area and create a new automation. Give it a clear name like "Welcome new subscribers." (Confirm the exact menu path in your account.)
- Choose the trigger: a subscriber joins the audience. Select the specific audience you want to watch.
- Add a send action and pick the welcome Edition you prepared. This becomes the Broadcast each new subscriber receives.
- (Optional) Add a short delay — for example, wait 10 minutes after joining — so the welcome doesn't arrive mid-signup.
- Review the summary, then run a test by adding your test subscriber to the audience and confirming the Broadcast arrives.
- Activate the automation so it runs for all future subscribers.
Result
New subscribers now receive your welcome Broadcast automatically as soon as they join. You can monitor how it performs from the automation's reporting view and adjust the Edition or timing anytime.
Next steps
- Personalize the welcome with subscriber details
- Track opens and clicks for your automated send
- Build a signup form to grow the audience
