Set what happens when a drip ends

A drip campaign eventually runs out of steps for a subscriber. By default the subscriber simply exits and receives nothing more from that drip. You can change this end behavior so the drip repeats on a cycle, or hands subscribers off into another drip to continue their journey.

Before you begin​

  • You need an existing drip with at least one step, and permission to edit automations.
  • Decide the end action you want: stop (default), repeat the cycle, or move to another drip.
  • If you plan to hand off, have the destination drip built and ready to receive subscribers.
  • Open the drip's settings where its schedule and completion options live (confirm the exact steps in your account).

Steps​

  1. Open the drip you want to configure and go to its end-of-drip or completion settings.
  2. Choose the end action:
    • Repeat on a cycle — the drip loops back to the first step so subscribers keep receiving it on a recurring basis. Set the interval before it restarts.
    • Move to another drip — select the destination drip. When a subscriber finishes the current drip, they enter the new one at its first step.
    • Stop — leave subscribers to exit with no further action (the default).
  3. If repeating, confirm you have an exit condition (such as a goal, unsubscribe, or suppression) so subscribers are not looped indefinitely.
  4. Save the drip. Existing active subscribers follow the new end action only once they reach the end going forward.

Result​

When a subscriber completes the final step, the drip applies your chosen end action — restarting the cycle or enrolling them in the next drip. You can confirm this in the drip's reporting, where completions and hand-offs are recorded.
