Set up an auto-responder

An auto-responder sends a chosen Edition to a subscriber automatically when they meet a condition you define — for example, joining a list, clicking a link, or a date-based trigger. Once it's running, no one has to send it by hand; each qualifying subscriber receives the Edition on their own schedule.

Before you begin

  • A finished, tested Edition to send as the reply. Send yourself a proof first so links and personalization tokens render correctly.
  • The trigger you want to respond to (for example, a new subscription to a specific audience, a click, or a date field on the subscriber record).
  • Permission to create automations in your account. (confirm the exact steps in your account)

Steps

  1. Open the automation area and create a new auto-responder. (confirm the exact steps in your account)
  2. Choose the trigger — the event or condition that starts the response (such as joining an audience or matching a rule).
  3. Select the Edition to send as the reply. Pick one already built and proofed in your Folder.
  4. Set the timing — send immediately, or after a delay (for example, one day after the trigger).
  5. Add any conditions or filters so only the right subscribers qualify (for example, a specific audience or region).
  6. Save and activate the auto-responder. Send a test through the trigger to confirm it fires.

Result

When a subscriber meets the condition, they automatically receive the Edition at the timing you set. New qualifying subscribers are picked up going forward, and you can track opens, clicks, and delivery in your reports.
