Preview and Test an Edition
Preview an Edition and send test messages to yourself and reviewers so you can catch layout, link, and personalization problems before it goes out as a Broadcast.
Before you begin
- Your Edition should be mostly finished — subject line, sender details, and body content in place.
- Have a short list of test addresses ready (your own inbox plus any reviewers). Include a mix of clients where possible, such as Outlook, Gmail, and a mobile mail app.
- If your Edition uses personalization tokens, know which subscriber the preview will represent, so you can confirm the tokens resolve to sensible values.
- Open the Edition from its Folder so you're working on the version you intend to send.
Steps
- Open the Edition and switch to the preview view to see how the rendered message looks. Toggle between desktop and mobile widths if that option is available (confirm the exact steps in your account).
- Preview as a sample subscriber so personalization tokens are filled in with real field values. Check that names, dates, and any conditional content display correctly.
- Review the details a subscriber sees first: the from name and address, the subject line, and the preview/preheader text.
- Click through every link and button to confirm each points to the correct destination, and check that images load and have alt text.
- Send a test message to your list of addresses. Test sends are delivered only to the addresses you specify and are not counted in report metrics.
- Open the test in several inboxes and on a phone. Look for broken layout, oversized images, clipped content, and any tokens that failed to resolve.
- Fix anything you find, then send a fresh test and re-check until it's clean.
Result
You've confirmed the Edition renders correctly, personalization resolves, and every link works across the inboxes your subscribers use. It's now ready to schedule or send as a Broadcast.
