Build Multi-Column Sections

Multi-column sections let you place content blocks side by side — for example, an image next to a caption, or two or three feature cards in a row — while keeping the Edition readable when it collapses to a single column on small screens.

Before you begin

  • Have the Edition open in the editor, in the Folder where you're building it.
  • Decide how many columns each section needs (two and three columns are the most reliable across email clients).
  • Gather the content for each column (text, images, buttons) so you can drop it in as you go.
  • Know that most email clients stack columns vertically on narrow screens, so plan the reading order top to bottom, left to right.

Steps

  1. Add a new section (row) to the Edition where you want the columns to appear.
  2. Choose a column layout for that section — for example two equal columns, three equal columns, or an uneven split such as one-third / two-thirds. (Confirm the exact layout options in your account.)
  3. Drop a content block into each column and add your text, image, or button.
  4. Adjust column spacing or padding if the blocks sit too close together, and keep images set to scale to the column width so they don't overflow.
  5. Repeat for any additional sections, mixing single-column and multi-column rows to create visual rhythm.
  6. Preview the Edition at desktop and mobile widths to check how the columns stack.

Result

Your section displays as aligned columns on wider screens and stacks cleanly into a single readable column on phones. Send yourself a test Broadcast to confirm the layout holds in the email clients your subscribers use most.
