Manage unsubscribes and opt-outs
Review who has unsubscribed and understand how opt-outs are recorded and honored.
When a subscriber clicks the unsubscribe link in a Broadcast, or is opted out through a preference page or an inbound reply, the platform records it and stops future sends to that address automatically. You don't have to remove them by hand — but you should know how to review opt-outs and confirm they're being honored.
Before you begin
- Access to the audience or reporting area where opt-outs are listed (confirm the exact location in your account).
- A recent Broadcast to review, if you're checking opt-outs for a specific send.
- Permission to export subscriber data, if you plan to reconcile with an external system.
Steps
- Open the audience or list you want to review.
- Filter or switch to the view that shows unsubscribed / opted-out subscribers. Every honored opt-out appears here with the date it was recorded.
- To see opt-outs tied to a single send, open that Broadcast's report and look at its unsubscribe count and subscriber detail.
- To confirm an individual address, search for the subscriber and check their opt-out status and timestamp.
- If you need a record for another system, export the opted-out subscribers (confirm the export option in your account).
Result
Opted-out subscribers are clearly flagged and are excluded from future Broadcasts automatically. An opt-out applies going forward — it does not delete the subscriber's history, and honored opt-outs cannot be silently overridden by re-importing the same address.
