Add images, video, and featured media to a Post
Images, video, and a featured image make a Post more engaging and give it a strong visual anchor in listings, cards, and social previews. This page shows an Author how to add each type of media and set the featured image that represents the Post.
Before you begin
- You have edit access to the Post and it is open in the editor (confirm the exact steps in your account).
- Your media files are ready: images sized for the layout, and video either uploaded to your media library or hosted on a supported provider.
- You know which single image should be the featured image (the one used in cards, listings, and link previews).
Steps
- Open the Post in the editor and place your cursor where the media should appear.
- Add an image from the media/insert menu. Upload a new file or pick one from the media library, then set alt text so the image is accessible and meaningful when it can't load.
- Add a video the same way: either upload a file or paste a link from a supported hosting provider. Choose inline playback or a thumbnail-and-link style if offered.
- Set the featured image from the Post's settings or sidebar. This image typically appears in listings, cards, and shared-link previews rather than in the body itself.
- Resize or align media as needed, and preview the Post on both desktop and mobile widths.
- Save your changes (confirm the exact steps in your account).
Result
The Post shows your inline images and video in the body, and the featured image appears wherever the Post is summarized (listings, cards, and link previews). Alt text is present on images, and media displays correctly across screen sizes.
