Measure drip and automation performance

Track opens, clicks, and how subscribers progress through the steps of an automated drip.

A drip (or automation) is a sequence of Editions that go out over time, triggered by an event or a subscriber joining a segment. Unlike a one-off Broadcast, its value shows up across steps: how many subscribers enter, how each step performs, and how many reach the end. This page shows how to read those numbers.

Before you begin

  • The drip or automation must be active and have processed at least some subscribers — brand-new drips show little or no data.
  • Know which reporting view holds automation results in your account (often a dedicated Automation or Journey report, separate from single-Broadcast reports) (confirm the exact steps in your account).
  • Decide your reporting window; step metrics accumulate as subscribers move through, so recent steps will lag earlier ones.

Steps

  1. Open the drip or automation you want to measure from its Folder.
  2. Go to its reporting or analytics view for the automation as a whole (confirm the exact steps in your account).
  3. Review the entry and flow figures: how many subscribers entered, how many are currently in-progress, and how many completed the sequence.
  4. Expand an individual step to see per-Edition delivery, opens, clicks, and unsubscribes for that message.
  5. Compare steps side by side to spot where engagement or drop-off changes — a low open rate on step 3 or a spike in unsubscribes flags a weak point.
  6. Filter by date, segment, or step to isolate a cohort, then export the results if you need them for a wider report.

Result

You can see how many subscribers entered the drip, how each step performed on opens and clicks, and how many progressed through to completion — enough to find the step that needs attention.
