Review bounces and delivery
Check how many messages were delivered, how many bounced, and what the bounce types mean for your list.
After a Broadcast goes out, the delivery figures tell you how many subscribers actually received it and which addresses could not be reached. Reviewing bounces early keeps your list clean and protects your sending reputation.
Before you begin
- A Broadcast that has already been sent, so delivery data has had time to populate.
- Access to the reports area for the Folder that contains the Edition.
- A basic sense of your list size, so the bounce percentage is meaningful in context.
Steps
- Open the report for the sent Broadcast from its Folder (confirm the exact steps in your account).
- Read the delivery summary: sent, delivered, and bounced totals, plus the bounce rate as a percentage of sent.
- Split bounces by type. Hard bounces are permanent failures (address does not exist, domain rejected) and are usually suppressed automatically. Soft bounces are temporary (mailbox full, server unavailable) and may resolve on the next send.
- Open the list of bounced subscribers to see individual addresses and, where available, the reason code returned by the receiving server.
- Watch for spikes. A sudden rise in hard bounces often points to an old or imported list segment that needs cleaning.
- Export the bounce list if you need to share it or reconcile it against your source system (confirm export options in your account).
Result
You can state how many subscribers received the Broadcast, quantify the bounce rate, and distinguish permanent (hard) from temporary (soft) failures. Persistent hard bounces are added to suppression so future Broadcasts skip those addresses.
